We had a very successful Vancouver Gem Show at the PNE with record attendance: over 4,000 visitors filled the isles during  the March 23 – 26 event.  We are already  planning for the next Vancouver Gem & Mineral Show in Kitsilano scheduled for August 11 – 13. I have been travelling  in Europe in late June/early July and was lucky to spend two weeks in the Dolomites (Colfosco and Cortina d’Ampezzo – both places ideal for alpine hiking and mountain biking).  After my return we are now getting ready for the next Vancouver Gem & Mineral Show in Kitsilano scheduled for August 11 – 13. GL Gem Halogen Light Holder Update

Recent purchasers of the 2017 GL Gem Spectrometer may have noticed an additional SMA 905 port on top of the GL Gem Light holder.

Together with a solarization resistant fiber assembly the extra port can be used to connect with the built in halogen light and/or attached to other UV light sources (UVNS) and lasers.

We are just beginning with our research and will report about possible applications in the next GL Newsletter.

We have updated the GL Gem Raman PL532 2016/17 model software to final version 3.1. The integrated search engine can now accommodate customized databases with up to 3,000 references; search time is under one second which is probably the fastest presently known.
